Reddit, which has been billed itself as "the front page of the Internet" for a long time, is facing a massive revolt by its members because of censorship. The top ranking employees have removed some subreddit which sparked a mass exodus to a newly formed site by the name of Voat.

What sparked it all was when the newly appointed CEO of Reddit, Ellen Pao, herald in what many predicted as a new ago of censorship. This came true when many communities (known as subreddits) have been unexpectedly shut down, like r/fatpeoplehate (a subreddit that was dedicated to mocking fat people and the "fat acceptance" movement, although it was not known for engaging in any off-site harassment. Other reddit members cited the subreddit as an important source for motivation to maintain a healthier lifestyle).
 
 
 
There are early indications that the Reddit adminstrators may have been on the road to alienating their user base. Since user activity on Voat, their rival, have been rising steadily since social media censorship because an issue during the Gamergate controversy.
