Mozilla (stylized as moz://a) is a free software community founded in 1998 by members of Netscape. The Mozilla community uses, develops, spreads and supports Mozilla products, thereby promoting exclusively free software and open standards, with only minor exceptions. The community is supported institutionally by the not-for-profit Mozilla Foundation and its tax-paying subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation.

Role in Gamergate

On October 31, 2014, Mozilla's blog The Open Standard published an article[1] by Audrey Watters accusing critics of corruption in games journalism of being behind the threats to Anita Sarkeesian and Brianna Wu, and equating meritocracy with misogyny.

On November 4, The Open Standard published a response[2] by Georgina Young of TechRaptor.

On November 5, Mozilla apologized and deleted both articles.
